How to do it

  1. Rest a PVC pipe across your upper back and stand with feet hip-width.
  2. Soften your knees and brace your core.
  3. Hinge at the hips, pushing your butt straight back as your chest drops toward parallel.
  4. Feel the stretch in your hamstrings, then squeeze your glutes to stand tall.

The one cue that matters

Hinge at the hips, don't bend at the waist. Keep your back flat the whole way.
