How to do it

  1. Stand tall and hold a wall or chair for balance.
  2. Keep your working leg straight.
  3. Lift it out to the side as high as you can without leaning.
  4. Lower slowly and repeat, then switch sides.

The one cue that matters

Keep your torso vertical. Leaning away just lets the hip cheat the rep.
