How to do it

  1. Set the Smith bar across your upper back with your heels on a block, toes off the edge.
  2. Unrack the bar and stand tall.
  3. Lower your toes down for a stretch in the shins.
  4. Pull your toes up toward your shins as high as you can.
  5. Squeeze the front of your lower legs, then lower slowly.

The one cue that matters

Move only at the ankle and pull the toes up hard, this hits the shins not the calves.

Muscles worked

The Smith Machine Reverse Calf Raise isolates the Calves — no passengers. That makes it a clean tool for adding targeted calves volume without extra fatigue.
