Build calves that actually fill out your socks.

Pause at the bottom stretch instead of bouncing. The stretch is where calves grow.
The calf press loads the ankle through a machine platform, letting your calves work through a huge range, heels sinking below the toes for a deep stretch, then driving to a full point at the top with serious weight behind it. With the machine handling all the balance, every kilo goes into the calves rather than into staying upright. It is the heaviest, most stable way to attack stubborn lower legs.
The calf press runs through a supported machine platform, so there is zero balance demand and heavier, safer loading. Standing raises hit the same muscle but tax your stability too. The press is where most people can push closest to failure.
Balls of the feet on the edge with the heels hanging completely free, that is what unlocks the deep stretch. Feet around hip width with toes forward is the standard, and small toe angle changes mostly shift comfort, not results.
Slow enough to pause at both ends. A dead stop in the bottom stretch kills the tendon bounce, a squeeze at the top makes the muscle finish the rep. If you are pumping fast, you are training the spring, not the calf.
