How to do it

  1. Adjust the seat so your shoulders line up with the machine's pivot.
  2. Strap in, plant your elbows on the pads, and grip the bar.
  3. Let your arms rotate back into a full overhead stretch.
  4. Pull the bar down in an arc using your lats toward your waist.
  5. Squeeze, then control the bar back to the stretch.

The one cue that matters

Drive with the elbows and lats, not your hands. Feel the stretch at the top each rep.
