Clean from the hang. Sharpens your second pull and explosiveness.

Start the explosion from the hang position, don't dip too low or it becomes a full clean.
Starting from the hang strips away the floor pull and concentrates everything on the explosive second pull, where the quads fire hardest to drive triple extension from just above the knee. The hamstrings load during the hinge down, the back holds the bar close and braced, the shoulders shrug and guide the bar, and the core transmits all that force without leaking. It earns its place as the go-to power builder for athletes who want clean speed and aggression without spending time on floor mechanics.
A full clean starts from the floor and includes the slower first pull. The hang clean starts from above the knee, so every rep is pure second-pull explosion. Lifters use the hang version to fix a slow finish or to train power with less setup.
Meet the bar instead of waiting for it. Whip your elbows around fast as you pull under so the bar lands on your front delts with fingertips relaxed under it. Slow elbows are almost always the culprit.
To just above the knee, no further. Hinge back with your shoulders over the bar, then go. Dip much lower and you have basically reinvented the full clean and lost the point of training from the hang.
