How to do it

  1. Stand with a foot on each side of the dome, holding the suspension handles in front of you.
  2. Lean back on the straps and lower into a wide squat, knees pushed out.
  3. Explode up and jump onto the top of the dome, sticking the landing.
  4. Jump back down to the straddle position and repeat.

The one cue that matters

Use the straps for balance, not to pull yourself up. Stay upright and land soft.

Muscles worked

From a straddle stance around the dome, the wide squat loads your quads before you explode up and land on top of it, a jump that has to be both powerful and precise. Your glutes drive the takeoff and control the knees-out landing, while the straps in your hands keep the whole cycle from tipping over. It earns a place as power training with a target, forcing you to produce force and then stick a small, raised, unstable landing.

FAQ

Landing on top of the dome sounds risky, how do I build up to it?

Start with box jump experience and clean flat-ground squat jumps, then rehearse stepping onto the dome to feel the surface. When you jump, land soft with feet centred, and use the straps to steady the landing, not to pull yourself up.

What is the straddle start position?

One foot on each side of the dome with it between your feet, holding the handles in front of you. You squat wide from there, jump onto the dome, then jump back down to the straddle and repeat.

What are the straps actually doing?

They are your balance line through the whole cycle, especially sticking the landing on top. Keep light tension and stay upright, if you are leaning back and hauling on them, you are cheating the jump.
