Should I train abs every day?

No, abs are muscles like any other; train them 2 to 3 days a week with progressive load and let them recover.

The quick answer

Abs do not need daily work. Like any muscle they grow from progressive overload and recovery, so 2 to 3 focused sessions a week is plenty. Do 3 to 4 hard sets of weighted work like cable crunches, hanging leg raises, and ab wheel, and rest a day between. Daily high rep crunches mostly build endurance, not visible abs, and visibility comes from lower body fat.

How to think about it

Treat abs like any muscle

The rectus abdominis responds to load and recovery the same as biceps or quads. Training it daily gives no time to adapt and just adds junk volume. Two or three quality sessions weekly drives more growth.

Load them

Bodyweight crunches to endless reps build stamina, not thickness. Add resistance with cable crunches, weighted decline sit ups, hanging leg raises, and the ab wheel in the 8 to 15 rep range and progress the load.

Abs show from leanness

You can build thick abs but they only become visible when body fat is low enough, roughly the low teens for men and low twenties for women. If seeing them is the goal, diet drives that, not more crunches.
