How to do it

  1. Step into a split stance, one foot forward and one back, feet staying put.
  2. Bend both knees and lower straight down until your back knee nears the floor.
  3. Drive through your front heel back to standing without moving your feet.
  4. Finish all reps on one side, then switch.

The one cue that matters

Drop straight down, not forward, keep your front shin vertical the whole set.

What if I can't do many reps yet?

Shorten the range or use an easier variation, and stop 1 to 2 reps before failure. Reps build fast when you train just shy of your limit.
